Punching Above Your Weight

How to Use AI Without Losing Your Mind. The first edition reached the top ten of Amazon's new releases in artificial intelligence. Sixteen months later I rewrote it, and the revised edition is out now.

A working manual for people who are outnumbered.

The founder with no staff. The manager inside a messy org chart. The writer who wants help and doesn't want to sound like everyone else.

AI can make any of them faster. It can also make them forgettable. This book is about getting the first without the second.

Why I wrote it

I finished the first draft in a week. The next morning I watched my father's heart stop. He came back.

After that, a guide to AI tools was not enough. I kept the workflows and I added what the hospital taught me: you don't get forever, so stop waiting for permission.

I don't come from big tech and I'm not chasing a trend. I wrote this for people who know what it is to work under pressure and keep their dignity while they do it.

One minute on why the book exists.

What changed in the revised edition

A book that tells you to check what the machine hands you has to meet its own standard.

  • The research behind every claim is in the text, with sources listed at the back
  • Rules for using AI at work, because enthusiasm without rules gets people in trouble
  • Every quotation rechecked. The ones I could not trace are gone or marked "attributed"
  • A new Introduction that accounts for sixteen months of change in the technology

The first edition was written in a week because speed was the point. This one took longer because proof was the point. Same twelve rounds, same songs, plainer language, and a higher standard of proof.

Why I revised it

What's inside

  • How to get more done with AI without adding to your stress
  • Systems that protect your time and your attention
  • Twelve rounds, each with one tool you can use this week
  • Experts worth learning from, many of them women and people of color
  • A hype track for every round, with the playlist on Spotify
  • Short chapters. Read one on the train.
“Finally, a book about AI that motivates me to actually use it.”William D., reader
“I bought it for the AI insights. I stayed for the heart.”Katrina S., reader

If you've ever been the smallest person in the fight, I wrote it for you.

The books

Each one stands on its own. The first is about using AI without losing your mind. The second is about leading yourself when AI can do the work. The third is about leading others when AI can do the teaching.
